I was long gone by this point, I wanted to get home and see the Moot.  (I also wanted to eat a casserole my mum had lovingly prepared!)

So the AA man drive Dave down the M3 and as they got chatting discovered we had driven all the way from Southend on one tank of fuel and felt it likely Quinny had probably just run dry.  So he took Quinny and Dave to the next services where they filled Quinny.  £25 of expensive services petrol (ie not very much at all) the tank was overflowing.  Yes chaps this car has the smallest fuel tank known to man and we made it almost from Southend to Southampton on one tank!  Not really surprising she gave out poor love!

With fuel tank full Quinny was alive again and Dave completed the journey home with the AA man in tow to make sure all was well.
Dave arrived at 9:30pm cold, but not wet, with the readdest eyes you have ever seen.

Kit car+contact lenses at 70mph = pain

But we took her to her garage (she doesn't fit in ours) tucked her in and she is fine.

Yesterday the brakes were bleed, as it was apparent on the journey home that the brakes definatly needed attension and there is a list of 30 jobs already complied for minor fixes required (only things like speedo working, petrol guage, you know small stuff!)

But she is home, she is very pretty, and Dave loves her.

Hello all,
Yes, after a 10 hour round trip and a call to the AA "Quinny" the kit car has arrived and is safely installed in her garage home.  She has been named "Quinny" as she is a Q plate car and a Quinny is a type of buggy.  It suits her well.
The trip to collect her was unfortunatly not easy but we made it to Southend and back in one peice (as did she) which is the main thing.  Having spent a lovely weekend at Centre parcs (Longleet) with my parents, brother, wife and kids, we came home and swapped cars to drive to Southend.  We were on the road again by 12:30 and stopped at Fleet services for some lunch about 1:30.  I had had  a little sleep by this point so took over driving as Dave hates driving on the M25.
We got round the M25 and then the Sat-Nav took us the most ridiculous route to Southend known to man (via Glasgow I think) and we did not get into Southend till about 3:30.  We then had to find the local branch of Llyodstsb to withdraw the money to pay for said motor.  They had been pre-warned of our arrival and the tranaction we needed to complete.  However, just finding the place was hard enough (another hour spent driving round in circles losing mobile phone signal whilst trying to get instruction from bank teller).  So we finallly arrive at bank and they then take 30mins to produce wodge of cash that only just fits in envelope.
Either way we now make our way to meet ex-Quinny owner and part with cash.  He has nipped off to fill quinny with petrol (this will be important later).  But we arrived, ex-owner and Quinny arrive and all is well.  Cash and Logbook pass hands and Dave suits up ready to drive home.  It is now roughly 5pm! getting dark and looking like it is going to rain.  If you look at the pictures linked in the previous entry you will see - no roof!
I am following in the golf as the backup vehicle should anything bad happen.  So with hat, scarf, gloves, coat and handsfree mobile, we are off.
The start of the drive was fine, Dave had ot get used to the width of the car but we got to the Dartford crossing all OK and made it over the bridge.  Then it started raining, as I have to say I feared for Dave's life as kitcars are not the easiest things to spot in the dark, in the wet, or a busy motorway.  Having been nearly hit by a motorbike and at least 3 trucks we did however make it round the M25.
It has to be said thoughout all of this Dave had no accrate speedo, we started the journey with it at least 10mph out and by the second half of te M25 it has failed completly so he was using the rev counter to gauge speed (and me flashing my lights when he went over).
So we made it to the M3 and I got him though the roadworks and we stopped at Fleet for a final systems check for the home straight.  It was on leaving the services I noticed the Golf only had 1/4 of a tank of fuel left bu thought "it will be fine, I'll get home on that".
Dave got out of the services and about another 5 miles and then suddenly started slowing down, Thankfully we were in the inside lane and pulled off motorway.  It is now 7:50pm.  Quinny has lost the will.  She is running but has no power, the fuel gauge stopped working hours ago, as did the speedo, temp guage and batterey gauge. The hazard won't work but the lights are on.
We get into the Golf to have a summit.  Could be petrol? could be electrics? could be something else? We have AA cover.  Not far from services? ...... Call the AA, got to be quicker.
So we call the AA, after a 40min wait man arrives,

AA man: Nice car

Dave Yeah lovely isn't she, new

AA man: What's the problem?

Dave: Don't know lack of power

AA man: Tow home?

Dave:Please

So the AA man put Quinny on the back of the lorry.
